BEST GROUP OF HOUSING - WINNER

DOWNFIELD PRIMARY BY JON FRULLANI ARCHITECT LTD
From the Architect:
The development benefited from the early engagement with Dundee City Council through a pre- application process with a view to working intrinsically with the planning department to successfully re-purpose the existing school building, but also from a contextual perspective to enhance the streetscape to the east.
The existing school was restored and refurbished through the introduction of six units, with a modern extension to the south elevation providing a further six 2-bedroom flats. Although clearly a modern addition to this historic building, the extension sought to take cues from the existing building through replicating the scale, massing and proportions of the original building.
