The challenges encountered during the project, such as the underpinning of the existing lodge due to the absence of foundations, transformed into an opportunity to showcase the adaptability of heritage preservation. The decision to expose the new mass concrete foundations as a feature not only addresses structural necessities but also adds a layer of storytelling, visually blending the historical and modern elements seamlessly.

This project represents all of our Practice’s goals – a harmonious coexistence of the old and the new, where sustainability and heritage preservation coexist in modern residential Scottish architecture.
